Lauren Alger, the Director of Sustainable Design at STV, is a civil engineer experienced in supporting LEED-certified and Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) award-winning projects. Lauren promotes sustainable design practices with a focus on greenhouse gas emission analyses and reduction efforts, while working closely with STV’s Digital Advisory teams to develop tools and processes to effectively measure, track and reduce emissions within project designs. As a member of SE 2050, the ASCE-SEI commitment to reduce embodied carbon within structural systems of buildings, Lauren launched ASCE Infrastructure 2050 which expands the scope to prioritize various infrastructure systems.

Prabh is a corporate sustainability strategist with over 15 years of experience integrating and operationalizing sustainability into corporate strategy. She has led the development and execution of sustainability strategies, providing a framework for corporations to make decisions that balance economic, environmental, and social responsibility in a way that drives business value. At Aecon Group Inc., Prabh leads the development and delivery of Aecon’s sustainability strategy. Her key responsibilities include integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) into operations and construction projects, identifying future trends, emerging technologies, and operationalizing sustainability into day-to-day practices. Prior to joining Aecon, Prabh was the Associate Director, Strategy & Sustainability at Toronto Pearson International Airport, where she was ranked Top 40 under 40 in North America by Airport Business for integrating sustainability as a value driver into airport operations and management. She was also ranked Top 20 under 40 by Wings Magazine for influencing Canadian Aviation. Prabh has a Master of Resource and Environmental Management from Dalhousie University and undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from McMaster University. Prabh is often a guest lecturer at universities and conferences, most recently having spoken at the BC Clean Tech Conference. Prabh is currently serving as the North American representative on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Stakeholder Council as well as a Research associate with the National Academy of Sciences.
Bob Beinstein, PE, ENV SP (moderator)

Robert M. Beinstein (Bob), P.E., ENV SP, has held technical and managerial roles in the commercial nuclear industry, managed environmental and smart growth programs in the Federal marketplace, and lead a diverse array of client service-related work in the engineering consulting business. He served on the Sustainable Infrastructure Advisory Board at the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure (in the Harvard Graduate School of Design) from its inception, helping develop the Envision Sustainable Infrastructure Rating system, and remains involved with ongoing research there. Bob spent four months in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, managing a temporary power team in the wake of Hurricane Maria, has guest lectured at multiple universities and teaches the Envision Sustainability Professional credentialling course for both government and private sector organizations. At AECOM, Bob leads the ESG market for the Americas.
Ian Cain, ENV SP

Ian Cain is a senior botanist with HDR based in Sacramento, California. He has been involved in conducting and leading botanical, wetland, and habitat surveys in the greater Arid Southwest since 2005 and is a certified consulting botanist with the California Native Plant Society. He has worked on assessing and verifying Envision projects.
Miah Cohall, EIT, ENV SP
Assistant Engineer II (Hazen and Sawyer)
Miah Cohall is a member of Hazen’s Sustainability and Drinking Water Groups. She has coordinated with NYCDEP on numerous projects to meet various sustainability Key Performance Indicators (KPI) goals to work towards NYC’s climate change initiatives and maintain compliance with NYC Local Laws. Miah has contributed to several Envision applications, including the Tallman Island Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility project (TI-168) that achieved an Envision Silver Award. In addition, she works with communities in New Hampshire and Connecticut to identify the location of lead service lines in homes, schools, and childcare facilities in support of the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions.
Gina Danison, ENV SP
Director of Environmental Programs (Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority)
Gina Danison joined Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority (RDUAA) as the Environmental Program Officer in January 2008. Over the years she worked in various roles in the environmental department and took on the new roll of Director of Environmental Programs in June of 2021. In this position, she oversees compliance items and associated programs related to air quality, stormwater, wastewater, PFAS, among others. She was the Project Manager for the development of the Authority’s first Sustainability Management Plan and also for the Greenhouse Gas Roadmap and Decarbonization Plan project. Before working at RDUAA, Gina worked with the EPA in the Office of Pesticide Products and in private consulting. She has over 25 years of experience. Gina received her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Kansas.

Alexandra Davis has national experience in tailoring sustainability efforts to airport design and construction projects of every size and scale. She specializes in developing mission-aligned targets for holistic sustainability integration with expertise in embodied carbon analysis and stakeholder engagement. Her work extends to climate vulnerability planning, sustainability management plans, and third-party certification support across aviation, education, and commercial sectors. Alexandra’s career highlights include leading the sustainability and Envision strategy for the world’s first Envision Platinum airfield, which included the first FAA approved specification for low carbon concrete. This innovative specification incorporates in-situ carbon dioxide mineralization technology, allowing for carbon sequestration in the mix design and sets a global warming potential target to reduce a project’s overall carbon impact.

Joel possesses extensive industry experience spanning 6 years, encompassing diverse project types such as commercial, residential, institutional, transportation, and road construction. This led Joel to obtain credentials in LEED and Envision, as well as a specialized expertise in Climate Resilience. From pre-design planning sessions to the execution of on-site construction activities, Joel applies his comprehensive understanding of sustainability and climate resilience to the entire project lifecycle. With a Master’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s in Public Administration, Gabriela has applied her unique blend of skills and knowledge to projects across North America. She assists project teams in assessing water, wastewater, parks, and transportation projects, and develops narratives to achieve higher sustainability levels. She also supports the Envision verification process and is currently involved in supporting over $12 Billion (construction value) in infrastructure projects through the Envision process, aiming to improve the sustainability and resilience of our infrastructure.
Courtney Eaton, PE, ENV SP

Ms. Eaton has over 24 years of experience in planning, design and asset management of wastewater and stormwater treatment and conveyances systems. She has a particular interest in incorporating sustainable practices into those systems and as such, is credentialed as an Envision Sustainability Professional for infrastructure projects. In recent years, she has been involved in a number of planning and design projects where she has used the Envision framework to help utilities further the sustainability of their systems, including the San Diego International Airport New Terminal 1.

Lauren Evans, PE, ENV SP has more than four decades of experience in the environmental industry with a focus on environmental regulations, remediation, and sustainability. In 1993 she founded the Lakewood, Colorado based Pinyon Environmental, Inc. and the firm now employs approximately 70 staff members. Ms. Evans started the firm based on the belief that clients deserve ethical business practices and intelligent, cost-conscious solutions. During her tenure, her company has reached annual revenues of $10M and completed over 20,000 projects for over 1,450 clients across the US. She has implemented innovative corporate tools including open book management, the balanced scorecard, predictive leading indicators, an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), and creation of an innovation & optimization department within the company to develop and implement new technologies for application on the company’s projects. Ms. Evans is a past president of The American Council of Engineering Companies of Colorado (ACEC/CO). She has chaired or served on various ACEC committees, and actively participates in industry organizations. Her honors include being named ACEC/CO Outstanding Woman in Engineering, and Colorado Business in Ethics award winner. Ms. Evans is a long-standing champion of raising public awareness and understanding and appreciation of the engineering profession.
Elena Fisher, AICP, ENV SP
City Planner (City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation)
Elena Fisher is a city planning professional in the Sustainability Unit of the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation (DOA). At DOA, Elena was a member of the leadership team for the DOA’s Sustainability Management Plan and Climate Adaptation and Resiliency Plan. Her work has included a wide variety of sustainability, environmental compliance and planning projects. Elena has participated in several Envision verification efforts at DOA, including the successful Taxiway J Rehabilitation project that earned Envision verification in February 2024, several other taxiway project, and the West Cargo Redevelopment and Expansion Plan at the Philadelphia International Airport. As Envision Program Manager for the DOA, Elena is leading the development of DOA’s Envision program by fostering collaboration and information-sharing and focusing on a lessons-learned, iterative improvement process.

Courtney Gantt is an Envision leader for RS&H with experience leading Envision efforts on a wide range of transportation projects including roadways, runways and taxiways, parking lots, and energy generation projects. With multiple years of experience in energy, environmental, and sustainability roles, she is able to provide insight into the interdependence and synergies between environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives. Currently, Courtney serves as the co-chair for the Airports and Envision Working Group, where she supports increased education and outreach of the Envision framework for airport representatives and consultants. Lindsey Geiger is the Director of Environment & Sustainability at Portland Cement Association. Dr. Patricia Gómez has more than 20 years of direct experience working on engineering, resilience and sustainability-related opportunities in both the public sector and private industries. Dr. Gómez serves in the dual roles of Interim Chief Resilience Officer and Director of Energy in Miami-Dade County’s Office of Resilience. During her County career, she has successfully implemented multiple projects that have improved the sustainability and resilience of County facilities and operations while also reducing energy and water consumption and increasing efficiency throughout the community through initiatives such incorporation of enterprise-wide utility billing management software, the Building Efficiency 305 (BE305) program, the Climate Action Strategy and on-site solar installations at County facilities. Dr. Gómez is a LEED AP BD+C accredited professional, a Certified Energy Manager and a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida. Dr. Gómez holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from University of Miami.

Nidal Hussein is a Jordanian professional engineer with an MSc in environmental engineering, a post graduate diploma in water and irrigation, and a BSc in civil engineering. For the last 35 years, Nidal has worked on infrastructure projects in Jordan, Saudi Arabia/Aramco, and the United Arab Emirates. During 2017-2020, Nidal worked as Project Manager with AECOM to manage two packages in EXPO 2020/Dubai – one of them for bridges and road network, and the other one for Expo village Metro station. Now, Nidal is working with CDM Smith Consultants as a Project Manager for infrastructure projects, with a focus on environmental and sustainability issues.

TJ Moon serves as the Sustainability Officer for LA County Public Works. Chris Nelsen is a Senior Project Engineer at Delve Underground with 6 years of geotechnical engineering experience and a focus on tunneling and design of underground infrastructure. Chris joined Delve Underground after three years as a field engineer for a specialty geotechnical subcontractor. He graduated from Lafayette College in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and from The University of Texas at Austin in 2018 with a Master of Science in Geotechnical Engineering. Chris is engaged in industry-wide efforts to improve the sustainability of infrastructure projects through the EFFC/DFI Carbon Calculator Task Group, the ASCE Infrastructure 2050 tunnel focus group, and ISI’s Envision framework as an Envision Sustainable Professional (ENV SP).

Stephanie has a decade of experience working in New York City’s land use and environmental quality process, which lead to her love of sustainability and resiliency. In particular, Stephanie has experience in the facility planning sector within New York City, siting and design for complex city facilities and large-scale infrastructure. Her experience includes sustainable mobility, resilient waterfronts, climate risks and vulnerability assessments, asset adaptation, embodied carbon, and life cycle assessments. Stephanie is also a credentialed Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) Envision Professional, Verifier and Trainer, as well as the Northeast Envision Lead for the U.S. Stephanie is growing a team of dynamic and brilliant Sustainability and Resiliency experts to service the diverse client base in NY/NJ. Tiffany Reed-Villarreal is the National Ready-mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) Director, Sustainability Codes and Standards. She is a licensed Professional Engineer and a credentialed Envision Sustainability Professional. Based in Texas, Ms. Reed-Villarreal supports NRMCA members and state affiliates in sustainability codes and standards development, education, and advocacy for the ready-mixed concrete industry. Tiffany earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. She holds over 15 years’ experience in structural engineering and consultancy and has been involved in codes and standards development, sustainable infrastructure advocacy, and government relations. Prior to joining NRMCA, Tiffany worked as structural engineer for buildings and as a consultant with product manufacturers, engineering firms, and agencies on technical product issues, business strategies, and technical marketing in the construction industry. Tiffany was awarded Civil Engineering Advocate of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and continues to serve ASCE as the Region 6 Governor and as voting member on the ASCE Committee on Sustainability. Tiffany also holds current positions in American Concrete Institute (ACI), ASHRAE 189.1, ASTM International, and Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). Andrew Rella is a Coastal and Environmental Engineer specializing in nature inclusive design approaches relative to shoreline stabilization and flood protection measures, urban and working waterfronts, and offshore infrastructure. With 15 years’ experience in the design, permitting and construction of natural, nature-based features and hybrid technologies within coastal and waterfront infrastructure schemes. Currently serving as the Technical Director of Business Development for ECOncrete, a company offering innovative ecological solutions for concrete based coastal, marine and offshore infrastructure. Andrew has also worked as a private consultant with the New York City Economic Develop Corporation since 2013 to develop habitat enhancement features for marine piles to support oyster growth, as well with the Department of Engineering of Neptune Township, NJ to deliver multiple living shoreline projects in Shark River Inlet. He holds a B.E. in Environmental Engineering, and a M.E. and Ph. D in Ocean Engineering with a concentration in Coastal Engineering.

Kristen Salinas has 16 years of experience providing guidance and recommendations on how to integrate sustainable design into new buildings. Using green and healthy building rating systems, Kristen seeks high levels of certification for complex buildings, campuses, and civil projects. Her background in civil engineering provides a comprehensive understanding of site planning, energy/water systems, and optimizing embodied carbon in structural materials. Additionally, Kristen has worked extensively with utilities in Southern California supporting Title 24, Part 6 (energy code) compliance improvement programs. Josh is currently the senior traffic engineer at Adams County Public Works. Josh has 13 years of experience in the traffic engineering world and has held positions on both the public and private side. He enjoys pushing the boundaries of what our transportation system can and should be and is passionate about leaving the world better than the way it was, both professionally and personally. Outside of work, Josh enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife, his four year old daughter, and his derpy yellow lab puppy.

Jeslin Varghese is the Senior Director of Sustainability at the Gateway Development Commission (GDC), where he oversees the integration of environmental, social, and economic sustainability across the $16 billion Hudson Tunnel Project, a critical infrastructure initiative within the Northeast Corridor. Jeslin brings extensive experience from his previous role as Director of Project Controls at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), where he played a key role in the $11 billion East Side Access (ESA) project, one of the largest transportation infrastructure undertakings in the United States. Beyond his work in infrastructure, Jeslin is deeply committed to sustainability education. He serves as a Guest Faculty at Cooper Union and is an active USGBC Faculty member and WELL Faculty, where he contributes to the professional development of the next generation of sustainability leaders.
Peter Wang, Ph.D.

Peter Wang is a Bridge Engineer III in HNTB’s New York Office. In his three years at HNTB, Peter has worked on several network tied arch and cable-stayed bridges. Peter earned his Ph.D. and M.S.E. in Civil Engineering from Princeton University and earned his B.Eng. from The Cooper Union. He has research interests in structural stability, corrugated webs, shear design, and embodied carbon reduction. He is a member of ASCE’s Infra2050 Committee serving as Bridges Technical Lead, the Transportation Research Board’s Committee on the Construction of Bridges and Structures serving as Committee Communications Coordinator, the Structural Stability Research Council, and the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering. At HNTB, he is a member of the Accelerated Bridge Construction Committee, Community Service Committee, and the Research in Infrastructure Group. Peter is currently working on design of the Livingston Avenue Bridge.

Justin Waples is a Chartered and Registered Professional Environmental Engineer with a public water resources recovery utility in the San Francisco Bay Area. Justin’s pursuits focus on strategic planning and applied research, with a focus on infrastructure resiliency and sustainability. Justin is a member of the not-for-profit Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s (ISI) Envision Review Board for sustainable, resilient and equitable infrastructure, and is championing his organizations enterprise-level adoption of the ISI Envision framework. Justin’s 30 year career in the field of engineering has included public, private and defense sectors around the world.
Michael Williams
Sustainability Analyst (NYC DEP)
Michael Williams began his career with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) in June 2022 as a Graduate Intern with the Bureau of Engineering, Design, and Construction (BEDC) – Sustainability Section. Prior to returning to NYC DEP in March 2024, Michael has earned a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree as well as gained further experience in sustainable mechanical systems from the private sector. Currently, as a Sustainability Analyst, he is actively engaged in a variety of projects, ranging from reservoir and dam upgrades, drinking water tunnels and shafts, wastewater pumping stations, and wastewater resource recovery facility upgrades.
Michaella Wittmann, ENV SP, LEED Fellow

Michaella’s sustainability career spans more than 25 years. Her focus has been on the incorporation of sustainability into larger civil infrastructure projects as well as integrating sustainability into the culture of large organizations. Michaella is an Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) and was the first Chair of the Envision Review Board. She has worked on over 15 Envision projects, seeing many of them through the Envision verification process. Michaella also works with companies and organizations to develop sustainability and environmental social governance (ESG) goals and metrics. She is a passionate advocate for training and mentoring. She has mentored dozens of young professionals in the architecture and engineering community helping drive their careers towards sustainability. Michaella has also provided countless training courses on a variety of sustainability topics, ranging from sustainable rating systems, to ESG, sustainable goal setting and sustainable career paths. In 2023, Michaella founded EcoMend Solutions to continue to help organizations and professionals on their sustainability journey.
Kara Wright, ENV SP

Kara Wright is an ENV SP Sustainability Project Manager with seven years of experience in sustainability planning and business development. She has worked with public and private-sector clients in energy, petrochemical, retail, consumer goods, entertainment, and manufacturing to reach waste diversion and decarbonization goals. Kara excels at facilitating actionable collaboration with cross-sector teams, developing processes to meet stakeholder reporting requirements, identifying innovative strategies to reduce environmental impacts, and managing the internal and external communications of sensitive projects. She has strong network connections and knowledge of both state-of-the-art and state-of-the-market sustainability solutions. As an ENV SP, Kara has a working knowledge and experience in implementing and monitoring sustainability performance in accordance with the Envision framework.
Qian Zhang, PE, PMP, ENV SP, LEED GA, MS

Qian is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP), Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), Envision Trainer, LEED Green Associate, with a Master of Science degree. She brings a comprehensive suite of skills to the table. Her passion lies in project management, engineering, sustainability, and inclusion & diversity. These pillars form the foundation of her professional identity, where she manages over $1 million multidisciplinary projects, spearheads sustainability initiatives as the North America Envision coordinator, and fosters an inclusive culture as an ERG chair. She earned her undergraduate degree in China. After working for 2 years, she pursued further education in the US and returned to work in 2015. She has experience in a variety of industries, including municipal wastewater/drinking water/roadway, stormwater, land development, oil and gas, landfill, and structure. Qian has held various roles, including translator, technician, engineer, and project manager. Her diverse work experience and passion for her work make her an asset to any team. In addition, she actively works to improve her skills and build her network to gain knowledge and bring potential clients to the company. She values teamwork and is known for making people feel heard and valued, which is essential for building a strong team. In her free time, Qian also volunteers and brings people of diverse backgrounds together to participate in community activities.
