Bu Wang is an assistant professor in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has a Ph.D. degree in ceramic engineering from Alfred University and worked as a research scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles, before joining UW-Madison. At UCLA, he worked with his colleagues to develop the CO2ConcreteTM technology, a low-carbon footprint concrete that captures CO2 from power plant flue gas. At UW-Madison, he and his research team continue to develop technologies related to sustainable construction materials, waste recycling, and upcycling, and carbon capture and utilization. Bu teaches a class on sustainable building and materials and also works on issues related to embodied carbon emissions in construction materials through the Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts.
