Dr. Diana Byrne is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. Her research focuses on sustainable design and management of water infrastructure through the integration of sustainability assessments (e.g., life cycle assessment, life cycle costing) and workforce development. Additionally, she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses focused on sustainable infrastructure systems. Ultimately, Dr. Byrne seeks to engage in research and teaching that focus on applying sustainable design and engineering principles to pursue meaningful impacts for people and the environment. Dr. Byrne earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Saint Louis University and an M.S. in Civil Engineering and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is also a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Kentucky and maintains the credential of Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) through the Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure.
