Dr. Ramjeawon has more than 32 years of experience working for academic institutions, government agencies, industries, and international organizations. He is a professor of environmental engineering in the department of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Mauritius, holding a diplome D’Ingenieur in water sciences and technology from the Ecole Polytechnique de Montpellier (France) and a PhD in environmental engineering from the University of Mauritius. He was a Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar at Virginia Tech in the USA, a visiting scholar at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) in South Africa, a visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi and at the Centre for Sustainable Technologies at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore in India.
He has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in environmental management and environmental engineering and has been successful in attracting research income from national and international funding organizations and has a good record in higher degree by research supervision. He has held a number of senior management positions, such as head of the Civil Engineering department, dean of Faculty of Engineering, and acting vice chancellor of the University of Mauritius. I have more than 65 publications in international journals and conference proceedings and recently published a book on sustainability for senior undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students. He is also an ENVISION Sustainability Professional.
