Shirley Cheng

Shirley Cheng, PE, ENV SP, received her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Irvine. She began her Civil Engineering career in the private sector at a land development company but soon realized that the private sector was not the right fit. Ms. Cheng has been with Los Angeles County Public Works (PW) for 11 years. She is currently a Civil Engineer in the Strategic Planning and Sustainability Office, where she provides technical support and direction for sustainability-related policies and programs within PW. She leads the Envision Planning Committee at PW, which includes representatives from various PW Core Service Areas. Ms. Cheng provides the committee with updates on Envision and the status of PW’s sustainability efforts, including Envision implementation, training opportunities, and collaboration with the committee to develop new strategies to streamline the Envision rating process for PW projects. She also provides technical assistance to project teams pursuing third-party verification.
