Dr. Akima Cornell

Akima Consulting, LLC 

Principal and Owner

Dr. Akima Cornell, ENV SP, SPEC, GPRO, is a sustainability expert and project manager with over twenty years of experience developing and evaluating policies and projects related to climate change and sustainability. Dr. Cornell serves as a member of the Envision Review Board and is an Envision Trainer and project professional, working on projects throughout the United States. 

Dr. Cornell is the principal and owner of Akima Consulting, LLC, a small woman-owned business and an industry leader in the areas of community, infrastructure, and sustainability planning. Akima Consulting, LLC has policy and project experience, assisting public agencies, municipalities, private businesses, and non-profit organizations throughout the United States in creating innovative sustainable solutions to environmental, social, and economic challenges. Dr. Cornell’s expertise includes crafting and implementing sustainable planning for public and private clients, data analysis, public outreach, stakeholder engagement, and policy analysis and negotiation. She also has experience in planning and coordinating multiple trainings and workshops to educate businesses and the public on new policies, environmental practices, and technologies. 

Dr. Cornell received her doctorate in environmental policy, social network analysis, and statistics from the University of Essex in England. She also graduated with a master’s degree in politics, environmental policy, and international relations from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego, California. 

“My interest in serving on the Envision Review Board (ERB), stems from my passion for sustainable infrastructure, and I view Envision as the roadmap for achieving those essential goals. I am especially excited about the opportunity to collaborate with ISI on Envision V4. My focus would be on helping to create a dynamic and user-friendly manual.”
