Phoenix’s Verde Water Treatment Plant Facilities Demolition project is the recent recipient of the Envision Platinum sustainable infrastructure award from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI), which recognizes sustainable infrastructure across the full range of environmental, social and economic impacts.
Constructed in 1948, the Verde Water Treatment Plant served the water needs of the City of Phoenix for decades. In 2011, the plant was decommissioned, as water supplies from the facility were no longer required. The site is being restored to a natural, pre-development condition. This is the first demolition project to earn recognition from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure.
