The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) and the Consejo Ecuatoriano de Edificación Sustentable (CEES Ecuador) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration and knowledge sharing in support of sustainable and resilient development in Ecuador and across Latin America. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to advancing sustainability through leadership, education, professional engagement, and the promotion of best practices in the built environment and infrastructure sectors.
The MOU was signed in Quito during Ecuador Green Building Week 2026: Future Americas – Cities, Systems & Life / What We Build Next?, where Anthony Kane, President & CEO of ISI, delivered a presentation titled “Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure: The Next Step for Latin America.” During the event, Anthony Kane and Jhoana García Martínez, Executive Director of CEES Ecuador, formally signed the agreement on behalf of their organizations.
Founded to advance sustainability across Ecuador’s built environment, CEES Ecuador brings together professionals, organizations, and industry leaders to promote education, collaboration, innovation, and sustainable development practices. Through training, technical resources, events, and industry engagement, CEES works to strengthen environmental performance, economic vitality, and community well-being while supporting Ecuador’s transition toward a more sustainable and resilient future.
“Addressing today’s infrastructure and sustainability challenges requires collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and regions,” said Anthony Kane, President & CEO of ISI. “We are pleased to formalize our relationship with CEES Ecuador and look forward to opportunities to share knowledge, support professional development, and advance infrastructure solutions that create long-term value for communities throughout Ecuador and Latin America.”
As part of the week’s activities, Cristina Contreras, Founder and CEO of Sinfranova, and member of ISI’s Envision Review Board, attended the event and led an Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) training workshop. The workshop provided participants with practical tools and strategies for applying Envision principles to infrastructure planning, design, and delivery, and prepared them to take the ENV SP exam to become a credentialed professional.
The agreement with CEES Ecuador reflects the growing momentum for sustainable infrastructure throughout Latin America. In recent years, ISI has established collaborative relationships with organizations across the region, including the Chile Green Building Council (Chile GBC), the Consejo Colombiano de Construcción Sostenible (CCCS) in Colombia, the Guatemala Green Building Council (GGBC), and most recently the Panama Green Building Council (PGBC). Together, these relationships support greater knowledge sharing, professional development, and the advancement of sustainable and resilient infrastructure practices throughout the region. ISI looks forward to continuing to work with organizations across Latin America to support more sustainable, resilient, and equitable communities.
