Digital Twins & Infrastructure Sustainability Webinar Series

In October 2025, ISI published a white paper exploring the growing intersection of digital twins and infrastructure sustainability through the Envision framework. Building on that work, ISI launched a multi-part webinar series in 2026 to bring these concepts to life through practical insights, real-world case studies, and expert perspectives. Together, these webinars illustrate how digital twins are transforming the planning, design, delivery, and operation of infrastructure—supporting more resilient, equitable, and sustainable outcomes across sectors See the descriptions below and use the buttons to register.

Webinar 1: Overview: Digital Twins as a Catalyst for Sustainable Infrastructure

Presenters: Judith Rodriguez, ISI; Jen Ninete, ISI; Edita Kemzuraite, Bentley Systems

ISI recently published a white paper delving into the crossover between digital twins and sustainability through the lens of the Envision framework. ISI is scheduling a multi-part webinar series to illustrate how digital twins are transforming the way infrastructure is planned, designed, and managed. This introductory webinar provides a clear overview of what digital twins are, how they work, and why they’re becoming essential tools for sustainable and resilient infrastructure. We’ll explore the seven digital twin use cases; illustrate sustainability connections like lifecycle benefits, resource efficiency, risk reduction; demonstrate mapping of digital use cases to Envision categories; and summarize best practices and where the industry is heading.

Webinar 2: Driving Sustainable Infrastructure with Digital Technologies and the Envision Framework

Presenters: Rodrigo Fernandes, Director of Sustainability, Bentley Systems

Explore how digital technologies strengthen sustainability across every phase of infrastructure delivery.

This webinar highlights how integrated software solutions improve coordination, streamline decision-making, and support resilient, low-carbon infrastructure. Bentley Systems will demonstrate tools and case studies showcasing how digital workflows enhance lifecycle assessments, optimize resource use, and help project teams meet key sustainability performance frameworks, like UN SDGs, EU Taxonomy / Eu Green Deal, and most importantly – and specifically for infrastructure, the Envision criteria. The session also introduces the concepts of sustainability handprint and footprint—showing how digital solutions can both reduce impacts and amplify positive outcomes across sectors.

Webinar 3: Case Study Deep Dive #1: Climate Resilience & Coastal Protection

Presenters: Roni Deitz, Arcadis, Dean Tarulli, NYC DDC, Judith Rodriguez, ISI

Discover how digital twins are reshaping climate resilience and infrastructure planning.

This webinar highlights the power of simulation, forecasting, and visualization through real-world examples, including New York City’s East Side Coastal Resiliency (ESCR) project and the Hawai‘i DOT’s automated highway inspection program. Learn how data was integrated to model inundation scenarios to inform design choices and support transparent stakeholder engagement. We’ll explore measurable sustainability outcomes—such as reduced risk and more defensible planning—and show how these approaches can strengthen Envision performance across key credits in Climate & Resilience (CR), Quality of Life (QL), and Leadership (LD).

Webinar 4: Case Study Deep Dive #2: Mobility, Asset Performance & City-Scale Digital Governance

Presenters: Jennifer Ninete and Judith Rodriguez, ISI

Explore how digital twins are transforming mobility, operations, and cross-agency decision-making.

This webinar showcases examples—including Virtual Singapore’s national digital twin and Georgia DOT’s roadway data program—to demonstrate how high-fidelity visualization, operations modeling, and data interoperability improve planning and performance. Learn how AI and IoT enable real-time monitoring, how centralized data platforms enhance transparency, and how national-scale governance frameworks support resilience and public engagement. We’ll also highlight how these approaches strengthen Envision performance across Leadership (LD), Quality of Life (QL), and Resource Allocation (RA) credits.

Webinar 5: Case Study Deep Dive #3: Decarbonization, Resource Efficiency & Urban-Scale Twins

Presenters: Dr. Rajeev Ruparathna, Associate Professor in Civil & Environmental Engineering, University of Windsor; Judith Rodriguez, ISI

See how digital twins accelerate decarbonization and advance more equitable, efficient infrastructure systems.

This webinar highlights urban- and system-scale examples—including Ithaca’s groundbreaking citywide decarbonization model, SABESP’s Integra 4.0 platform in São Paulo, and the Robert Street Bridge rehabilitation—to demonstrate how integrated data and advanced modeling support emissions reduction, energy and water efficiency, and targeted investment strategies. Learn how cities and utilities use LIDAR, tax and utility data, and performance modeling to drive equity-centered planning, and how predictive maintenance strengthens operational performance in water and transportation networks. The session also explores Envision connections across Resource Allocation (RA), Leadership (LD), and Climate & Resilience (CR).
