ISI and Panama Green Building Council Establish Collaboration to Advance Sustainable Development 

The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) and the Panama Green Building Council (PGBC) have entered into a collaboration agreement that reflects a shared commitment to advancing sustainability, resilience, and quality of life through leadership, education, knowledge sharing, and the promotion of sustainable practices across the built environment and infrastructure sectors. The agreement was signed during the Executive Breakfast, Envision in Panama: Shaping the Next Generation of Infrastructure, held in Panama City. Anthony Kane, President and CEO of ISI, PGBC leaders—President Aldo Villalaz, 1st Vice President Lorena Rios, and Executive Director Marta Valderrama—to formalize the collaboration in front of an audience of public-sector leaders, developers, and infrastructure practitioners. Following the signing, Kane participated in a panel on in Panama and lessons learned from sustainable infrastructure efforts across the region.

The collaboration reflects the strong alignment between the missions of ISI and PGBC and creates a framework for ongoing dialogue, professional engagement, and the exchange of knowledge and perspectives that support sustainable development. Through this relationship, the organizations will explore opportunities for cooperation that advance their shared objectives while maintaining their independent organizational priorities and activities. 

Panama has emerged as an important hub for sustainable development and investment in the region, with growing interest in approaches that strengthen environmental stewardship, resilience, and long-term economic prosperity. As infrastructure owners, practitioners, policymakers, and communities across Latin America seek solutions that deliver lasting value, organizations such as PGBC play an important role in advancing education, collaboration, and professional leadership within the built environment.

Across Latin America, organizations are increasingly working together to share knowledge, build professional capacity, and advance sustainability goals. The collaboration with PGBC builds on relationships established in 2024 with the Green Building Councils of Colombia, Guatemala, and Chile, creating additional opportunities for dialogue and collaboration among professionals and organizations committed to sustainable development throughout the region. 

The agreement recognizes several shared principles, including advancing sustainability in the built environment and infrastructure sectors, supporting resilient communities, promoting environmental stewardship, expanding education and awareness, and fostering collaboration and innovation. Together, ISI and PGBC will continue exploring opportunities to advance these shared goals and support long-term environmental, social, and economic benefits for communities.
