City of Santa Ana’s Walnut Pump Station Building Upgrades Project Receives Envision Bronze
The City of Santa Ana’s Walnut Pump Station Building Upgrades project is the recent recipient of the Envision Bronze sustainable infrastructure award from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI), which recognizes sustainable infrastructure across the full range of environmental, social and economic impacts.
The City is replacing the aging building with a new larger facility meeting the California Green Building Standard Codes voluntary CALGreen Tier 1 standards. The new building will enclose the pumps, have an electrical room, storage area, workshop, water heater and compressor room, and ADA accessible office space. Various other improvements include: coordination with the adjacent Santa Ana High School to ensure the building’s facade compliments the existing architecture, the addition of two practice tennis courts along the common west perimeter wall for the high school’s use, and the implementation of an innovative stormwater management and reuse system.
