Envision Verification Program

Guide and Validate Sustainable Infrastructure Achievements

The Envision Sustainable Infrastructure Framework is a comprehensive tool developed to help infrastructure professionals plan, design, and deliver more sustainable infrastructure projects of all types and sizes. Our independent, third-party verification program provides a transparent, credible way to assess and recognize the sustainability of infrastructure projects using the Envision framework. Envision verification helps demonstrate that your project meets rigorous sustainability criteria while delivering real value to communities.

What Is Envision Verification?

Envision verification is a structured third-party process that evaluates how well your project aligns with the Envision framework — a holistic system assessing environmental, social, and economic impacts. Projects of all types and sizes can pursue Envision Verification at one of the following levels: Verified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Beyond verification, Envision can help project teams deliver measurable, meaningful results by aligning stakeholders, improving outcomes, and demonstrating leadership in sustainability.

Envision verification offers trusted, third-party validation of your project’s sustainability performance. Organizations pursue verification for many reasons — from regulatory requirements to public transparency, internal benchmarking, and industry recognition — but key benefits include:

    • Building public trust by demonstrating that community needs and concerns are being addressed
    • Increasing accountability for public and private investment decisions
    • Strengthening collaboration across project teams to achieve better outcomes
    • Measuring performance objectively using a comprehensive sustainability framework
    • Gaining independent recognition through an internationally respected framework

Project teams can choose from two pathways (Pathway A: Design + Post-Construction or Pathway B: Post-Construction) to pursue verification, depending on their goals and timeline. While details vary slightly by pathway, both alternatives follow a clear progression that involves a rigorous, iterative review process conducted by independent verifiers. Learn more about the verification process.

All projects pay a standard registration fee, but verification fees are designed to scale based on your project and approach. Costs are determined by project size (total capital cost), selected verification pathway, and ISI membership status — with additional options available for programmatic approaches. The programmatic approach to Envision verification supports owners delivering multiple Envision projects by streamlining processes and promoting consistency across submissions. Designed for both project teams and third-party verifiers, this approach improves efficiency in application development and review.
