Event Overview
ISI’s Annual Zofnass Research Program Symposium convenes leaders from public agencies and engineering consulting firms for a dynamic two-day program focused on sustainable infrastructure and the Envision Sustainable Infrastructure Framework. Each year, the symposium is hosted in a different city to spotlight regional project perspectives and case studies.
The Spring 2026 Pacific Northwest Symposium took place in Vancouver, British Columbia, April 9–10.
Day one featured expert speakers from leading agencies and practitioners advancing sustainable infrastructure, sharing project experiences and research findings related to the application of the Envision framework—with an emphasis on Pacific Northwest case studies. Day two had a guided field visit to projects using the Envision framework in the Vancouver area, with commentary from the teams leading these efforts.
There were guest speakers from British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), City of Surrey, Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA), Sound Transit, Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE), WSP, luuceo consulting inc., Stantec, HNTB, Bentley Systems, NV5, and Mott MacDonald.

Designed for sustainability professionals and collaborators in the infrastructure sector, the symposium supported a deeper understanding of the challenges, benefits, and real-world application of sustainable practices—while creating opportunities for networking and collaboration on the future of sustainable development.

Bonus Offering: ENV SP Training Workshop
Wednesday, April 8 – ENV SP Training Workshop (Registration is separate)
8:30 am – 4:30 pm PDT
ISI and Stantec will lead a full-day ENV SP Training workshop. This training provides a thorough introduction to the Envision framework, illustrates how it can improve project sustainability, and demonstrates successful applications. The workshop is a prerequisite for taking the ENV SP exam to become a Credentialed Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP). Workshop limited to 30 participants.
