Ethel Rubio

Ethel Rubio, ENV SP, Assoc AIA, is a distinguished professional with over 30 years of expertise in architecture, engineering, construction, and the nonprofit sector. As the principal/owner of Ethel G. Rubio, Assoc. AIA, she excels in construction and project management, strategic outreach, and engagement, and her diverse industry experience includes projects in transportation, hospitality, education, and correctional facilities.

Ethel began her architecture studies at the University of the Philippines, and later completed her bachelor’s degree in architecture with an emphasis on urban and regional planning at the University of Southern California after emigrating to the United States in 1986.

Committed to making a positive impact, Ethel has served in various leadership roles, including an advisory role focused on historic preservation with the Adams-Normandie Historic Preservation Overlay Zone Board, president roles with the Association for Women in Architecture and the Associate Members of the AIA Los Angeles Chapter, and serving as a board member for the Asian American Architects and Engineers Foundation.

As an active ISI Trainer, Ethel promotes ENV SP credentialing and use of the Envision framework in the AEC industry, and as an ISI Academic Committee member, she aims to build a pipeline of sustainability professionals by engaging with academia (particularly students) to raise awareness and encourage involvement in sustainability practice.
