Malay Ghose Hajra, Ph.D., P.E., ENV SP, is the Chief Engineer for Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – East (SELFPAE) in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he serves as a technical resource and subject matter expert to the engineering, operations and maintenance staff. Before joining SELFPAE, he served as a faculty member and department chair in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New Orleans, and worked as project manager and senior geotechnical engineer with multiple engineering firms across Louisiana and Texas.
Dr. Ghose Hajra received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University in 2001, after having completed his B.S. in Civil Engineering at University of North Bengal (India) and his M. Tech. degree in Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur (India). Dr. Ghose Hajra is actively involved with American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and has served as President of the ASCE – Louisiana section. He is also an active member of the Academic Committee for the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) and ASCE’s Geo-Institute.
