Dr. Ebrahim Karan is currently an associate professor of construction management in the department of Engineering Technology at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) in Texas. Prior joining SHSU, Dr. Karan was working as an assistant professor at Millersville University in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He obtained his doctorate in building construction from Georgia Tech in 2014, his master’s degree in construction engineering and management in 2008, and his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2006.
Over the past seven academic years, he has developed two lines of research investigating (1) innovative approaches to use artificial intelligence in architectural design and construction and (2) the inter-relationships between resilience and sustainability within the built environment. The latter focuses on the effectiveness of greenhouse gas mitigation strategies based on the current trend of food, energy, and water use.
